It will surely be like every other day but not like every other wedding. This blog title was inspired by one of my cousins who told me “e go loud gaan” as we were discussing about what we hoped it would look like, and feel like this forthcoming wedding ceremony, with the main attraction being Modupe and Omoniyi #moniyi19 .
Since Yoruba weddings (like other weddings) are characteristically full of people who are connected to the couple one way or other, it is known that have come with their kind of chieftaincy titles for the event. I am definitely going to be there by God’s grace as Baba Oko, Egbon Oko, Oloriebi, Arole Osha, Ebi Oko…. the title is endless. I will just use one for the event. Thank you very much.
What scatters my (virtual reality) dada at any wedding or event I am shooting as a wedding photographer or, as a guest, is the part where a particular song starts playing and I see my whole self put on another self like it’s a dancing shoe, moving to the rhythm of the beat blasting airwaves through the speakers. In other words, I am dancing my heart out. Thank you very much.
A wedding for this long time love birds shouldn’t be anything less than spectacular. All the headgears and caps standing on top of everyone at the venue like the grace of God, would be a sight to behold as all the glistening colours would rent your every sense of vision.
Talk about the proliferation of the ever colourful aso ebi, everybody having their own caucuses on the basis of a colour assigned for each group. There is one thing you are going to be sure of, about this wedding, the colours go bad gaan.
No matter how beautifully dressed all the families and guest get themselves at the wedding venue, they sure won’t be as attractive as the couple who will be at the centre stage of all the wedding procession. Modupe and Omoniyi will definitely be the cynosure of all eyes.
I look forward to seeing them finally put an end to their dating and courtship phase, and move into the beautiful future called marriage. I am going to be on-hand cataloguing their special moments as I have always done. This wedding ma loud gaan! Go get your invitation to be there. Nigeria is definitely going to be proud of us on that blessed day.
